This shirt illustrates something of a dichotomy:

1. Swimming against the current. There are so many things that the world wants us to get caught up in order to really express our individuality we have to "swim against the current".

2. Go with the flow. There are just some things that aren't worth stressing about. Sometimes it's healthier to just go with the flow; take things as they come.

My first thought was TMNT on their day off, but seriously, it reminds me of the turtles that used to hatch in my backyard when I was a kid. They'd have to make their way over a hill to a tiny pond and avoid all the birds and other predators along the way.

It's just to show that the guy who is "going with the flow" is kind of free spirited. I tried to portray a little bit of their personality in their shells: the guy swimming against the current has arrows on his shell, suggesting that he is the kind of guy who pushes forward to obtain his goals, while the other guy saw an opportunity to have some fun in the moment and went for it.
